19th Century

After gaining independence in 1821, Mexico entered a turbulent century marked by political instability, foreign invasions, and internal power struggles. Key events like the U.S.-Mexican War, the Reform War, and the French Intervention shaped the nation’s identity. Leaders such as Benito Juárez pushed for liberal reforms and defended the country’s sovereignty. Despite constant challenges, this century laid the foundations for a modern Mexican state.
